Micro Credits for poor farmers in Arsi
Objectives:
- Enhancing living and nutrition situation of poor small farmers in Arsi Highland.
- Donation of donkeys to widow females to disburden them and their children from carrying heavy stocks.
Actions:
The foundation collaborates with the Agricultural Office of Huruta and with local Peasant Associations. The detailed actions include:
- Providing interest-free Micro-Credits to farmers that do not receive credits from anywhere else to finance their production.
- Financing of vegetable plantation (seeds, fertilizer).
- Donation of Donkeys for women households.
- Financing of farm animals (Oxen, Sheep).
- Donate water pumps to groups of 10-15 farmers for vegetable irrigation (in addition to financing of vegetable plantation).
The Micro-Credits are issued for pay-back after 3 years. The money paid back by the farmers is used to re-issue new credits. The peasant association is solidly liable to our Foundation. Any beneficiary is selected collaboratively.
