Micro Credits for poor farmers in Arsi

Objectives:

• Enhancing living and nutrition situation of poor small farmers in Arsi Highland.
• Donation of donkeys to widow females to disburden them and their children from carrying heavy stocks.

Actions:

The foundation collaborates with the Agricultural Office of Huruta and with local Peasant Associations. The detailed actions include:

• Providing interest-free Micro-Credits to farmers that do not receive credits from anywhere else to finance their production.
• Financing of vegetable plantation (seeds, fertilizer).
• Donation of Donkeys to widow females.
• Financing of farm animals (Oxen, Sheep).

The Micro-Credits are issued for pay-back after 3 years. The money paid back by the farmers is used to re-issue new credits. The peasant association is solidly liable to our Foundation. Any beneficiary is selected collaboratively.
